Its eight rods are individually tuned by hand, with reference to 432 Hz, until they find their right place within the harmonic ensemble. Thanks to a harmonic correction specific to Koshi, the lower and higher notes naturally respond to one another. This sonic architecture gives Aqua its fluidity, its depth and this sense of a living chord that is always coherent. The four melodies of the 4 Elements collection were designed to be played alone or in dialogue with one another within the same collection. Terra, Aqua, Aria and Ignis can therefore respond freely to one another: their chords remain coherent, whatever combination is chosen.

Aqua has a uniquely soft, clear and flowing sound. Its pentatonic scale has an introspective musical character. Each rod sounds its fundamental note, but also more subtle harmonics, which resonate with the instrument as a whole. From this conversation between the notes emerges a continuous, deep and soothing halo of sound.

How to play the Koshi Aqua chime Basic movements Hold the Koshi Aqua chime by its cord and let it hang freely. Turn it gently with a slight movement of the wrist: the central clapper sets the rods into vibration and brings forth a cascade of fluid and delicate notes. The broader the movement, the more the rods are set in motion. Or swing it gently in a pendulum motion to play individual notes. The Koshi chime can also simply be suspended, allowing the wind to play it through melodies that are always unexpected. During meditation The melody of the Koshi Aqua chime can, for example, introduce and conclude a meditation session. In sound therapy and sound yoga In sound practices, the Koshi Aqua chime naturally finds its place alongside singing bowls, gongs or other harmonic instruments. Its lightness allows practitioners to move it easily through the space, to let the sound circulate, mark a change of rhythm or guide listening toward silence.

Handcrafted production and specifications Hand-tuned in the Pyrenees Each Koshi Aqua chime is hand-crafted at the foot of the French Pyrenees. The craftsperson solders eight steel rods with silver onto a metal base, then tunes them one by one, with meticulous attention to their pitch and accuracy. The bamboo resonance chamber amplifies the vibrations and gives the Koshi chime its long, soft and warm resonance.
